Dental Care That Fits Your Life
Quality Dental Implants
An implant is a new tooth made of surgical grade titanium and porcelain that looks just like your natural tooth.
Dr. Baarstad has undergone specialized training allowing her to place single or multiple implants sometimes even immediately after an extraction, depending on the type of case. This means you’ll never have to have a missing tooth, and you won’t have to undergo multiple appointments with various specialists.
If you already have missing teeth, it is crucial to replace them with modern dental implants. Without all your teeth, chewing and eating can destabilize your bite and cause you discomfort. When teeth are missing, your mouth and teeth can shift and even cause your face to look older. Implants are the standard of care to replace missing teeth.
Implants may also be used to anchor dentures, especially lower dentures that tend to shift when you talk or chew. Plus, for patients with removable partial dentures, implants can replace missing teeth so that you have a more natural-looking smile.
While we prefer you keep all of your natural teeth for life, sometimes it is necessary to remove a tooth. When it does become necessary, Dr. Terri Baarstad is specially trained to perform extractions right here at Smile Alive.
From simple extractions to more complicated surgical procedures, you can be confident in her gentle touch and confident nature. She truly cares about her patients’ comfort during the entire appointment. And most importantly, she can also be sure that the removal of a tooth does not effect your overall dental health and quality of life — that you get all the treatment you need to smile for life. With Dr. Baarstad, you and your family are truly in good hands.
Many times in the back portion of your upper jaw there isn’t enough bone to place an implant because your sinuses are there. In order to place an implant there, you need enough thickness of bone to support an implant. In such a case, a sinus lift procedure is necessary. The sinus lift procedure involves creating a hole for the implant and then through that hole, instruments are placed to lift the membrane that surrounds the sinus (Schneiderian Membrane). Once that is done bone graft material is placed into the hole and then the implant is placed. The bone graft material then gets hard over a period of about 4 months and this then stabilizes the implant.
